Through His Eyes

The wheels of the stroller resisted her efforts in the soft sand of the dirt road. One tiny man in push, the other… two feet behind her with berries consuming his fingers’ attempts to hold on. His purple mouth was evidence that he’d eaten more than he’d added to their stash.

She watched him toddle along, stopping to pick flowers along the way. Her reaction was always the same: first amazement, and then meeting his tiny, waiting lips with her own. Bestowing upon him a mother’s kiss.

He drank in everything his eyes met as if seeing it for the first time. And she, absolutely did the same because she was seeing it through him.
