I have always considered myself a “reader” but over the past year or two I’ve made it much more intentional. There are extreme benefits that come from reading an actual book… a physical book that you hold in your hands. It increases our ability to focus, tremendously. I learned this from “Stolen Focus” (a book that I appropriately recommend below) as Johann explored why society has such a difficult time, and an aversion to, reading actual books. It has to do with our attention spans being manipulated by the little electronic devices that most of us hold in our hands all day long. We have become addicted to attention-switching, being entertained, and not thinking for ourselves (“Comfort Crisis” also touches on this).
Part of my mission is to get more of us reading.
Though incomplete, below is part of my recommended readings. I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments or book recommendations. Let’s support each other and make one another stronger!
