Easy Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry Syrup is a natural immune system booster - perfect for fighting the common cold. Combines ginger, lemon, cinnamon, cloves, elderberries, and honey in a beautiful blend of nutritious goodness.

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ c Dried Elderberries
  • 3 Lemon Slices
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp Whole Cloves
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 3 c Filtered Water
  • ½ c Honey*

Instructions
 

  • In a small stock pot, bring everything EXCEPT honey to a boil. Turn down heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes or until it reduces by half.
    ¾ c Dried Elderberries, 3 Lemon Slices, 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger, chopped, 1 tsp Whole Cloves, 1 Cinnamon Stick, 3 c Filtered Water
  • Remove pot from burner, let cool slightly, then stir in honey.*
    ½ c Honey*
  • Pour through a mesh strainer into a mason jar (or jars).
  • Enjoy in small doses right away or after it has been chilled in the refrigerator.

*Children under the age of 1 should NOT consume honey. (Yes, you can substitute another sweetener but honey is preferred for its natural medicinal attributes.)
 
Store in an air tight container in the fridge.
 
General recommended dose: 1 Tbsp/day for adults - ½ Tbsp/day for children.
